Glass bonding without primer

Primerless bonding of glass with SMP adhesives
Polymer Silyl Modified Polymers
Applications
Automotive aftermarket, Window bonding, Transportation glass bonding
Performances
  • Free of solvents, isocyanates and PVC
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Excellent resistance to UV & Temperature
  • Easy to apply and cold-curing
  • Very rapid build-up of green strength and short drive-away time

The Challenge

Bonding windows in vehicles is one of the most complex adhesive applications. The process of bonding windscreen usually requires a pre-treatment of the glass surface with a primer to obtain good durability. Moreover the adhesive bond must withstand high loads very quickly after bonding has been completed. Meeting these requirements with a minimum of surface treatment makes windscreen bonding a challenge for adhesive manufacturers.

The Solution

ISR 70-12 is a high quality adhesive, specially developed for bonding windscreens and windows. This is the first SMP-based room temperature applied windscreen adhesive with a drive-away time of 15 minutes which does not require surface pre-treatment with primer and offers a number of demonstrable advantages for bonding windscreens in the area of application and speed:
- ISR 70-12 withstands cataplasm ageing without the use of a primer on ceramic coated glass.
- Due to its very high green strength, ISR 70-12 is specially suitable where immediately or shortly after installation, objects have to be moved during the manufacturing process.
- Without primer pre-treatment of surface, ISR 70-12 performances meet OEM requirements for structural glass bonding such as extreme durability, high strength and tear resistance.
