Two-part adhesive compositions are described. The two-part adhesives have a first part and a second part, said composition comprising at least one aromatic epoxy resin in the first part; at least one amine curing agent in the second part; and at least one ester in at least one of the first and/or second part. The ester corresponds to the general formula R2—CO—OR1; wherein R1 is an organic moiety comprising at least one of (i) at least one epoxy group or (ii) at least one acryl group and R2 is a branched alkyl group. The structural adhesive may be used to form bonded joints between adherends having clean surfaces, as well as those having surfaces contaminated with hydrocarbon-containing materials, such as oils, processing aids and lubricating agents.
