Lamination is used to produce a film structure consisting of two or more layers of materials (films, foils, paper, etc.) by adhesive bonding. The adhesive is applied in a coating process. This approach is generally used when one material will not satisfy all of the property requirements.
There are several laminating processes that can be adapted to production. These are generally referred to as either wet or dry laminating. Typical application is via a gravure cylinder or smooth roll.
