Edward M. Petrie

Edward M. Petrie received his BS in Chemical Engineering and MS in Polymer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University and his MBA from Duquesne University. He began his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporations Research Center in the Polymers and Plastics Department. His last corporate assignment was Program Manager in ABB Corporate Research. As a specialist in all areas of adhesion and adhesives, Mr. Petrie served as technical consultant to both end-users and formulators in the operating divisions of Westinghouse and ABB. He, therefore, has seen many diverse applications, problems, and opportunities relative to adhesive bonding. Currently, Mr. Petrie is an independent consultant.

Mr. Petrie is author of the Handbook of Adhesives and Sealants published by McGraw-Hill in October, 2000 and Polymeric Materials and Processes: a Concise Encyclopedia to be published by John Wiley & Sons in 2003. He has written numerous papers on adhesive bonding including chapters in several Handbooks. He holds seven patents. Mr. Petrie also serves the Society of Plastics Engineers and several universities as a seminar instructor in the areas of polymeric materials and adhesives.
