Transportation (Marine, Bus, Train, Trucks...), Construction, General assembly
Performances
Excellent UV resistance
Excellent Temperature resistance
Free of solvent
The Challenge
Sealants used for construction and transportation applications are strongly exposed
to UV radiation and to extreme variations in temperature. These conditions
cause deterioration of the sealant and subsequent cracking of surface as
well as change in color and loss of flexibility.
The Solution
To overcome these issues Bostik has developed a range of products based on Silyl
Modified Polymers (SMP) that provides a longer service life to your vehicle or
building, thanks to its outstanding resistance to UV exposure.
No degradation under UV light
Mechanical properties not significantly influenced by UV

Unlike many technologies, SMP adhesives and sealants will not be affected by adverse
weather conditions. SMP technology is thus performing for bonding and sealing reliably
a wide range of dissimilar substrates: its resistance to UV and to temperature
variations improves end product durability but also prevents from moisture penetration:
there is no loss in flexibility. The picture below compares SMP sealant and
PU sealant after UV exposure:
We can clearly see that no cracking and no change of color are caused to SMP sealants
by UV exposure.

SMP based products before and after UV exposure
